Making, Mending, Marking. Speaker Jo Teague

Female orphans in Victorian Cheltenham were taught sewing as a means to earn a living. Jo will explore their lives both in the orphanage and af-ter as servants and textile workers, with illustra-tions of their work.

The talk supports the exhibition currently held in the Holst Victorian House Museum, Cheltenham curated by Jo Teague. Jo is a well known local artist, and was the lead on Stitch Story – “Tewkesbury’s Bayeux Tapestry”.
