The Battle of Evesham 1265. A talk by David Snowden

31st October 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

£3

battle-of-evesham

Today, Simon de Montfort is largely remembered
as a founder of parliamentary democracy. In his
own time, he was “the uncrowned king of England”
but in 1265, denounced as a rebel and a
traitor, his army was massacred at Evesham,
and he lay dead on the field. Join us as David recounts
de Montford’s life, describes the battle
and claims that had the outcome been different, the United
Kingdom “might not exist today”.

David Snowden is the chair of the Simon de Montfort Society
