Help us to Secure the Future of Our Past
The day to day running costs of the museum, about £300 per week, far exceed our income. Currently we rely on donations from our visitors, lectures, costume hire, shop sales and on the fundraising by the Friends of the Museum. Our main income is a revenue grant from the Town Council. This is nowhere near enough to support our essential costs: curator, energy, building maintenance, security and insurance, all of which we must incur to maintain our status as a professional, accredited, museum.
We receive no regular funding from County or District Councils; no regular funding from other bodies, and no regular funding from individuals or sponsors. We do apply for specific, one-off project funding from grant-giving bodies, but this does not keep the lights and heating on!
So we have established a number of ways you can support us on a regular basis:
- from joining the Friends of the Museum
- giving through JUST GIVING
- by visiting the Museum or coming to our lecture series
